BAC Founder, Oskar Jakobsson

Burleson Athletic Club was established in 1995 by Oskar Jakobsson.  Oskar was the Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach at the University of Texas at Austin for 11 years.  He was a 3-time Olympian, representing his native country Iceland, earning All-Southwest Conference and All American Honors while competing as a member of the Longhorn track and field team.  Oskar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from UT-Austin and is certified by the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and is also a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). He has over 35 years of experience developing sport specific strength and conditioning programs as well as general health and wellness programs.  During his time at UT as a coach, he helped develop programs for many All-Southwest Conference, All-American, and professional athletes. 

Oskar and his wife Angie, a native of Burleson, have three children, Blake, Brianna, and Luke Jakobsson.  Oskar’s oldest son Trausti is a physician in Stockholm, Sweden where he and his wife Asta are raising their children Una and Eli.
